Butterflies, known as symbols of happiness, blissful marriage, and longevity, hold a significant place in Peranakan needlework and batik. Inspired by the auspicious designs found in Chinese porcelains, butterfly motifs adorn these traditional art forms. In the contemporary meaning,  these motifs signify the celebration of the country’s unique blend of modernity and natural heritage. As Singaporeans value the harmonious relationship between humans and nature, several trails have been established along Orchard Road, attracting over 50 butterfly species.
