Sunbird, the national bird of Singapore, is known as the Yellow-bellied nectar bird. It embodies versatility, harmony, and peace. This vibrant creature, with its unique collection of feathers, can easily be spotted in the beautiful Singaporean Gardens where it indulges in nectar. The male sunbird displays striking scarlet and electric blue colors, while the female flaunts a breathtaking blend of olive green and yellow plumage. According to the National Library Board of Singapore, the olive-backed sunbird is among the most commonly sighted sunbirds in the country. It is fascinating to note that this sunbird species prefers nesting near humans, igniting the joy and curiosity of naturalists who are mesmerized by its beauty. This captivating Singaporean motif inspire batik patterns and embroidery designs or printed on silk fabric.
