These motifs adorn tubular skirts for women and waistcloths for men, with a unique fabric twist for weapon insertion.

These motifs depict lush green tendrils and tropical flowers, exemplifying the diverse and harmonious society of Singapore. With elements from Indian-Malay artistic styles, the botanical shapes represent iconic plants such as Lipstick Plant, Malayan Ixora, Pandan flower, and Common Dianella. The art of Singaporean Batik has preserved this multicultural symbolism for centuries, becoming a source of pride and inclusive representation in Singaporean society. The Arab Gegati motif, showcases a scattered arrangement of flowers or known as “Bunga bertabur”. With diagonal arrow-shaped, small sprinkles of flowers meticulously distributed throughout the entire fabric. This captivating pattern enhances the fabric’s beauty and evokes a delightful and enchanting aesthetic. The fabric is elegantly designed with Arabic flower ornamentation, offering a mesmerizing touch to its overall appeal. Such cloths are not worn on a daily basis. However, the officers are required to wear them on specific occasions, such as at the presentation of letters of credence ceremony for the appointment of diplomats or high commissioners, and on other state occasions, such as the National Day and Sultan of
Brunei Darussalam’s birthday.

Kain Si Lubang Bangsi is one of Brunei’s textile heritage masterpiece. Bangsi refers to a musical instrument that is similar to a harmonica. According to its designer bangsi means “the act of filling the hole”. This design employs multi-colored threads to decorate the motifs. This unique design incorporates a vibrant array of threads that intricately embellish the motifs. Crafted with traditional techniques and designs, these textiles beautifully showcase the reverence for and celebration of the rich cultural heritage of the country.

Kain Jong Sarat is a textile design that showcases simplicity and elegance. Using a single color for the fabric’s main body, it is woven with threads of gold or silver to form the motif. The word “Jong” translates to “boat” and “Sarat” signifies “full”, symbolizing a fully laden boat that carries hopes of prosperity, longlife and strong family ties. This exquisite textile is reserved for royal court functions and weddings, where it adds a touch of regality to the occasion.

“Symbols of labour and labour products. The role of women as the breadwinners and pillars of Tà Ôi society.”

These symbols represent the labor life of the Tà Ôi, reflecting their agricultural livelihood. They include images of Kanooi (the nest) for raising livestock, Apoat (fork) for planting, Apoóh tiho (trap), Aram (catcher), Anoók (fish scooper), Mbeen (net) for hunting, and Karta (staircase) for storing and drying foods. The images also showcase the diversity of cultivated crops like Shrimp a-um (corn), Shrimp (cassava), Shrimp aro (rice), and Kallong atuang (beans). Additionally, patterns represent forest, mountain, river, and stream products such as Aban (bamboo shoots), Pir Arui (azalea flowers), and Kartoonh (red vegetables). There is one image depicting Klikloóh (women pounding rice), symbolizing the role of women as the breadwinners and pillars of Tà Ôi society. The colors used are black, red, and white, with stylized triangular, diamond, and rhombus shapes arranged symmetrically.
